Detaching from technology and plugging ourselves back into Earth’s electrical outlet
In 1899, the world-renowned scientist and inventor, Nikola Tesla discovered that the earth resonates a frequency, just like a radio broadcast antenna, of approximately 8Hz. This discovery, like much of Tesla’s work, was ahead of its time. Although well documented, the scientific world wouldn’t fully accept this fact for over 50 years. Like Tesla, we are all trailblazers on our healing quests into the realm of mind/body medicine. No one knows how long it may take for others to accept the truth of our healing process, but that is of no consequence. The truth remains the truth no matter how long it takes others to experience it for themselves. We all come to the truth in our own time.
In 1953, University of Munich professor, W.O Schumann, and a group of his students discovered that the earth generated very specific pulsations. This 7.8Hz frequency of the earth is known today as the Schumann resonance. Through further study, including the use of electro-encephalograms (EEG), we now know that human brainwaves match the earth’s frequency when in the theta wave state. It’s believed that healing visualizations are most effective in, and that spontaneous healing is more conducive to, this theta brainwave state.
After being separated from the earth’s atmosphere, astronauts regularly report feeling fatigue, mood disruption and an inability to make decisions quickly.
German scientist, Wolfgang Ludwig, was one of the first pioneers of scientific study into the earth/mind connection. Ludwig is one of my most valued teachers; I’ve been studying his research for over three years now. During his research on the components of a healthy environment, he discovered the Schumann resonance could easily be measured in a natural setting, such as the countryside or at the ocean, but that it was impossible to measure in the city because too many man-made electromagnetic signals interfered with the earth’s frequency.
By 1963, Dr. Rutger Wever of the Max Planck Institute was building on Ludwig’s findings, discovered how essential the earth’s frequency is to our physical and mental health. During an experiment to examine the effect of light and frequency on circadian rhythm, Wever recruited several students to live in an underground bunker that screened out the earth’s resonance. During their four weeks in the bunker, the students reported experiencing stress, emotional upset and migraine headaches. After leaving the bunker and being exposed to the 7.8Hz frequency, the students recovered rapidly.
Cell phones, cell phone towers, internet Wi-Fi, microwave ovens, iPads, Bluetooth devices, radio and TV transmissions, baby monitors, two-way radios and countless other devices keep us endlessly bathed in a scrambled energy soup that disconnects us from our natural frequency.
Schumann resonances, which extend outward from the earth into the ionosphere, are considered extremely low frequency (ELF) waves. These vibrations synchronize the biological processes of all animate and inanimate life forms on earth. After being separated from the earth’s atmosphere, astronauts regularly report feeling fatigue, mood disruption and an inability to make decisions quickly.
Naturally, this information makes it very clear that it’s essential to maintain a consistent connection to the earth’s frequency for both great health and healing. This can be a serious challenge in our technological world where we’re bombarded with enormous amounts of man-made electromagnetic frequencies short circuiting our connection to the earth’s vibration. If you read last month’s newsletter, then you understand how the Harvard University anechoic chamber filters out sound frequencies. When we surround ourselves with constant electromagnetic interference from multi-media, we filter out the earth’s frequency and the connection to our higher self or God. What we’re left with is just static and noise.
I’m sure you’ve experienced that “Aaahhhh” feeling when you bury your feet into the sand at the beach. That’s your body recalibrating to its natural frequency again, “grounding” yourself like an electrical wire.
The solution is to literally plug ourselves back into earth’s electrical outlet. That means spending regular time in nature. If you can get out to the countryside, that’s wonderful. If you’re stuck in the city, and the park or the beach is your only option, be sure to go barefoot or lay in the sand or grass. Expose as much of your body to the earth, as possible. I’m sure you’ve experienced that “Aaahhhh” feeling when you bury your feet into the sand at the beach. That’s your body recalibrating to its natural frequency again, “grounding” yourself like an electrical wire. I recently came back from a camping trip and can attest to this fact. Sleeping on the ground is highly rejuvenative because we cycle through our various brainwave states throughout the night. Some sports teams even sleep on the ground the night before a big event to recharge their players.
Part of any healing regime or healthy lifestyle must include regular connections with the earth. This is one of the primary reasons I, and my beloved soul mate, Sherry, moved our practice to the countryside in Agoura Hills. The healing energy is more powerful in such an environment. The Zen garden leading to the entryway was created so that patients could spend time in nature as they wait for their appointments. Long after many of those appointments are over, patients can still be found relaxing and socializing in the garden. Sometimes we have to politely kick them out so we can go home! If you can visit a place in nature that resonates with you several times each week and couple that with a few media gadget detoxes throughout the month, you’re well on your way to recharging your body for recovery.
